WWE at one point considered having The Vision defend the World Tag Team Championship at SummerSlam.

According to WrestleVotes Radio, via Fightful Select, the idea was among the plans discussed for SummerSlam.

“At one point, one of the planned ideas was The Vision defending the World Tag Team Titles at SummerSlam, but that has not been finalized internally.”

Bron Breakker and Austin Theory recently regained the titles on the July 6 episode of Monday Night Raw, defeating the Street Profits after interference from Maxxine Dupri. The team of Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford had ended The Vision’s previous reign just two weeks earlier, on June 22.

As of now, WWE has not announced a match for the World Tag Team Championship at SummerSlam, which takes place August 1-2 at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.

The official card already includes nine matches, including Roman Reigns vs. Seth Rollins and CM Punk vs. Cody Rhodes.

On the July 20 episode of Raw, Breakker and Theory defeated Je’Von Evans and Dragon Lee in a non-title match. After the match, Otis and Akira Tozawa of Alpha Academy prevented The Vision from continuing the attack.

The segment opens the door for Alpha Academy to be inserted into the title picture, especially after Dupri aligned herself with The Vision.
