IYO SKY is expected to be Kelani Jordan’s opponent for her next NXT Women’s Championship defense, which is scheduled for Wednesday’s WWE NXT.
Robert Stone announced at Saturday’s Halloween Havoc that Jordan’s next title defense would be against a mystery opponent. Stone revealed that he had talked with Adam Pearce and Nick Aldis about Jordan’s recent appearances on the main roster. But he did not reveal the identity of the challenger.
SKY’s involvement is related to a confrontation between the two on Tuesday’s NXT.
In the segment, Jordan was talking with Pearce backstage at Raw when SKY walked up. SKY noted a change in Jordan’s personality, and Jordan responded with a jab.
Jordan said she was tired of being disrespected and promised to run through the Raw women’s division after her main roster call-up, including SKY herself. Pearce had to break up the argument.
The two were recently on opposite sides of the ring. On September 25, SKY and Thea Hail defeated Jordan and Zaria at an NXT house show in Columbia, South Carolina.
SKY has history with the title. She became NXT Women’s Champion in June 2020, then held the title for 304 days before losing it to Raquel Rodriguez in April 2021.
This week’s NXT will air on Wednesday instead of Tuesday, at 8 p.m. ET on The CW. The show was moved due to the U.S. midterm elections and will go head-to-head with Dynamite: Blood & Guts.
