Paul Wight, known worldwide as Big Show from his historic WWE run, confirmed he still plans an in-ring return for AEW.

Asked about a comeback on The Chris Evans Breakfast Show, Wight answered yes. The veteran said he endured a long grind to get back into ring shape. He stressed his current role does not include chasing championships or working weekly television.

“Yes. Do you know the absolute H-E-double hockey sticks (hell) I’ve gone through to get back in the ring? I don’t have to do much at this stage of the game, I’m not competing for championships, I’m not pulling the wagon, working every week. I have a great opportunity with All Elite Wrestling which was very important to me, to be able to help mentor some of the younger talent when they want it, tell them some stories to help them avoid some troubles in life, do the commentating where I can help explain what they’re doing and help develop their characters, and then get in the ring.”

“There are things that I can do in the ring working with them that I know will help them. It’s fun for me because I don’t have to do much. I show up once in a while, everybody’s happy. I come over here, get a nice little pop from the crowd, ‘Oh… we remember him back when he had long hair and a bright future. We’re glad he’s still doing well.’”

Wight last wrestled for AEW on November 15, 2023. He teamed with Kota Ibushi, Chris Jericho and Kenny Omega to beat Brian Cage, Konosuke Takeshita, Kyle Fletcher and Powerhouse Hobbs in a Street Fight on Dynamite. That was followed by a bout on the Jericho Cruise in January 2024.

Wight signed with AEW in February 2021 on a long-term deal as commentator, ambassador and wrestler. Tony Khan said at the time the former WWE giant could help the roster both inside and outside the ring.

More recently, Wight admitted his window as an active competitor is closing. He cited physical limitations and the need to control his weight and conditioning before any return.
