Sting remains involved with AEW even after retiring from the ring, though he does not hold a fixed backstage role with the company.

Speaking on Hunter, Jessica & Cush, the WWE Hall of Famer said he often offers advice to talent when he is at shows, especially on character development, in-ring psychology, moves, and presentation ideas. According to Sting, AEW wrestlers are usually very receptive to that kind of feedback.

Still, Sting made it clear that he is not at events often. His involvement is occasional, though he continues to stay in touch with some members of the roster by phone. The main one is Darby Allin, his former tag team partner, whom he speaks with regularly.

The Icon also named several talents who have caught his attention lately, with Kevin Knight standing out as someone he considers one of AEW’s most impressive wrestlers. Sting also mentioned Will Ospreay, Kyle Fletcher, Tommaso Ciampa, Kazuchika Okada, Konosuke Takeshita, Orange Cassidy, Samoa Joe, and Jon Moxley.

His connection with Allin added another chapter recently when Sting appeared in AEW as Allin captured the AEW World Championship from MJF. Allin will now defend the title against Kevin Knight on this Wednesday’s special Dynamite in North Charleston, South Carolina.

Sting retired in 2024 at AEW Revolution, closing out his in-ring career alongside Darby Allin as AEW World Tag Team Champion. Even away from the ring, his influence is still being felt throughout the company.
