Penta qualified for the men’s Money in the Bank ladder match on Monday, defeating Dominik Mysterio and Dragon Lee in a triple threat match that main-evented WWE Raw in San Antonio, Texas.
Penta was not even in the original match. WWE had announced Solo Sikoa against Mysterio and Lee, but plans changed shortly before the bout. The 946 beat down Sikoa in the parking lot and forced him into a vehicle. The group drove off with him while Jacob Fatu, The Usos, and LA Knight tried to intervene. Penta took Sikoa’s spot in the qualifier.
The match was evenly fought, and all three had their chances. Mysterio nearly qualified after a 619 and Frog Splash combination, but the pin attempt fell short.
Late in the match, Mysterio removed a turnbuckle pad, but the plan backfired. Penta sent Mysterio into the exposed turnbuckle and followed with a springboard Mexican Destroyer for the win.
Penta joins Bron Breakker, Je’Von Evans, and Trick Williams among those who have qualified for the men’s ladder match.
WWE Money in the Bank takes place October 10 at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans.
