Cash Wheeler revealed one of the main reasons FTR asked for their WWE release in 2019, months before the team was officially let go.
During a recent interview with LNG Productions, Wheeler said the abrupt end of The Revival’s alliance with Randy Orton was a deciding factor for him and Dax Harwood in realizing there were no major plans for them in the company.
At the time, Wheeler and Harwood were still working as Dash Wilder and Scott Dawson. Alongside Orton, they entered a rivalry with The New Day and formed the trio fans dubbed FTRKO.
Wheeler admitted he still regrets that the idea was not explored for longer.
“That’s the one I miss the most, as far as what could have been.”

According to Wheeler, Orton was a major supporter of the pairing and believed in the trio’s potential. However, WWE decided to split them up in the Draft, sending The Revival to SmackDown and Orton to RAW.
For the former AEW World Tag Team Champion, that made it clear what the team’s ceiling would be in the company.
“I’ve never regretted that decision, ever, even for a second.”
The departure became official on April 10, 2020, when WWE announced that it had agreed to immediately release Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder from their contracts.
