WWE is reportedly working on a plan to divide Bruce Prichard’s duties between Bobby Roode and Ed Koskey once Prichard leaves his post as the head of creative.
Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that this is the idea for now, with the transition slated for after WrestleMania 43 in April 2027. But Meltzer expects the plan to go through several changes before then.
This is at odds with reports that Shawn Michaels would be the one to get the job. To Meltzer, that possibility is “overblown at this point.”
On Thursday, Mike Johnson of PWInsider reported that WWE planned to promote Michaels to replace Prichard. Johnson was told WWE had been working on the succession for a while and would start preparing Michaels, the head of NXT, for the new role over the next few months.
Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer brought up something similar, with AJ Styles among those being considered to take over Michaels’ duties in NXT.
Prichard wants to step away from his position as Executive Director of Creative Writing & Talent but stay on as a consultant.
Koskey is already directly involved in WWE’s creative decisions. Back in January, Meltzer reported that Koskey and Prichard were in charge of distributing information to the different departments within WWE.
Roode recently received a vote of confidence from Triple H. On Stephanie McMahon’s What’s Your Story? podcast on October 23, Michael Hayes revealed that Triple H asked him to prepare Roode to eventually take over his producer duties.
Hayes praised the progress Roode has made backstage since he started being prepared to take on more responsibility in WWE. “Boy, has [Roode] come along,” Hayes said.
