Bruce Prichard is expected to retire from his role after WrestleMania 43 in 2027, which would be a big change for WWE creative.
PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that Prichard, 63, is expected to step away from his position as Executive Director of Creative Writing & Talent.
The report added that Prichard would stay with WWE as a consultant, but he would leave his current role and no longer live in Stamford, Connecticut.
Johnson said he confirmed this with multiple sources. One source said Prichard’s full-time work would end at WrestleMania, while another said that could change slightly.
Right now, the Raw, SmackDown, and NXT creative teams are considered to be under Prichard in WWE’s structure. He has run TV tapings in Triple H’s absence. It’s unclear who could replace him.
On Monday, Conrad Thompson talked to Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp about the future of his Something to Wrestle podcast with Prichard.
“He knows that too,” Thompson said. “We did very, very well. I’m sure if and when the time is right and he is no longer living in Stamford, then then we’ll be able to figure something out. But I think that’s going to be the foreseeable future for a little while.”
Thompson specifically brought up the possibility of Prichard leaving Stamford a day before the PWInsider report. The two have hosted the show since 2016, but Prichard has cut back on his appearances in recent years. JBL has filled in for him on several episodes.
Prichard is also dealing with health issues. On October 13, Thompson revealed on 83 Weeks that Prichard will need neck surgery for an injury he suffered in 1991 during a segment with Ultimate Warrior. Prichard was playing Brother Love at the time.
Prichard came back to WWE in a backstage role in 2019 to work with Vince McMahon, and he has been with the company since.
