Rey Fenix Hits Major Milestone as AAA World Cruiserweight Champion

Rey Fenix continues to build one of the most impressive title reigns AAA has seen in recent years.

On Tuesday, October 6, Fenix reached 129 days as AAA World Cruiserweight Champion in his second run with the title.

Fenix won the championship by defeating Laredo Kid at Noche de Los Grandes on May 30. He has since put the title on the line against the likes of Axiom, Nathan Frazer, El Hijo del Vikingo, JD McDonagh, EK Prosper and Ricky Saints.

Fenix’s 10th televised defense came on September 13 at Triplemanía 34, where he beat Nathan Frazer, Jack Cartwheel and Mini Vikingo in a Fatal 4-Way. His total is even higher once live events are factored in.

According to figures compiled by Wrestling Noticias, Fenix has also defended the title at non-televised WWE live events against Ricky Saints and Kit Wilson, and twice against Psycho Clown, bringing his total to 14.

Fenix was also in action on Monday’s Raw, facing Ethan Page. The match was originally billed as a defense of the AAA World Cruiserweight Championship, but WWE changed plans at the last minute and made it a non-title match.

This is not Fenix’s first long reign with the championship. His first run with the title lasted 394 days, from June 2022 to July 2023.
