El Hijo de Rey Misterio, the cousin of WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio, laid out a fan who ran into the ring and attacked him. It happened during The Crash’s 15th anniversary show on Friday in Tijuana, Mexico.
Moments earlier, Hijo de Rey Misterio defeated Xtreme Tiger in a mask vs. mask match in the night’s main event. As Tiger was getting ready to remove his mask, the fan, wearing a cap, a white T-shirt, and jeans, got past security and into the ring, then went after Hijo de Rey Misterio with punches to the stomach.
He didn’t do anything at first. But after the second punch, he hit the fan in the face, and the fan fell out of the ring and stayed down for a few minutes. The fan was checked on by medical staff and taken out of the building by security, while Tiger’s unmasking ceremony went on as scheduled.
Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter noted that the fan got on the apron looking excited before he attacked Hijo de Rey Misterio. Meltzer said:
“He threw these terrible looking punches at Rey, and then Rey just, boom.”
The Crash has yet to address the incident, and it’s unclear why the fan ran into the ring. The videos went viral on social media, with a lot of fans calling out security at the show, which drew over 5,000 people to the Auditorio Municipal Fausto Gutiérrez Moreno.
Seth Rollins was in a similar situation back in November 2021, with a fan taking him down on RAW at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. The fan was then arrested by the NYPD and charged with attempted assault.
