WWE announced that Rey Mysterio will lead Team Mexico against Team USA at Survivor Series: WarGames on Saturday, November 28, at Daikin Park in Houston, Texas.
Mysterio also announced the news in an Instagram post and invited fans to the show.
“You all heard the big announcement this morning…. you gota be there!” Mysterio wrote. “See you in H Town.”
Earlier in the day, Mysterio, now the General Manager of AAA, announced the match on Stephanie McMahon’s What’s Your Story? after talking with Adam Pearce and Nick Aldis, the General Managers of Raw and SmackDown.
“I had a couple of words with Adam Pearce and Nick Aldis, and we are going to put together something very special,” Mysterio said. “A classic five vs. five Survivor Series match at Survivor Series where it will be Team USA vs. Team Mexico.”

But Mysterio didn’t reveal at the time if he would be part of the match, and he said the details were still being figured out. So far, Mysterio is the only one of the 10 participants who has been confirmed. It’s the only match announced for the show, which is three weeks away.
It will be the first traditional Survivor Series elimination match since 2021, because WarGames matches have been the focus of the show since 2022. Back in 2021, Mysterio was named to Team Raw, but it was Pearce who took him off the team after he lost to Bobby Lashley. Austin Theory replaced him.
Mysterio leading Team Mexico comes as there have been rumors about his retirement. WrestleVotes Radio reported on Fightful Select that there have been discussions within WWE about Mysterio retiring in 2027, including how to present it.
