Ric Flair put a staggering number on his pro wrestling career. The WWE Hall of Famer said he wrestled 5,772 matches.
Flair made the claim during a recent conversation with Roman Sharf, CEO of Luxury Bazaar. Sharf went viral in recent weeks after gifting Flair a replica of the Rolex Shawn Michaels gave him after WrestleMania 24. The two met at the National Sports Collectors Convention.
The number Flair cited, though, is even higher than another figure the Nature Boy himself shared recently.
In August, Flair posted a career match-count comparison on social media, listing himself at 5,007. In the same post, The Undertaker had 2,502, John Cena 2,329, Triple H 1,990, and Brock Lesnar 445.
Public records tell a different story. Cagematch currently has 5,032 documented matches for Flair, from his debut in 1972 through his last match in July 2022.
Still, the massive total doesn’t seem impossible given the schedule Flair kept, especially during his years as NWA World Heavyweight Champion. Speaking on The Joe Rogan Experience, he said he wrestled 426 matches in a single year and recalled stretches where he worked twice in the same day.
Flair’s in-ring career ended on July 31, 2022, when the 73-year-old teamed with Andrade El Ídolo to defeat Jeff Jarrett and Jay Lethal in Nashville.
The exact 5,772 figure isn’t backed by public databases, but more than five thousand of Flair’s matches are documented.
