Seth Rollins, who has been gaining momentum on WWE programming in recent weeks, could be Roman Reigns’ next major challenger for the World Heavyweight Championship.

According to SelfMadePW, WWE’s current plan is to run Rollins vs. Reigns at this year’s SummerSlam in a world title match. As of now, however, the match has not been officially announced by the company.

SummerSlam will take place on August 1 and 2 at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota, marking another two-night edition of one of WWE’s biggest premium live events.

Reigns is coming off a major title defense at Clash in Italy, where he defeated Jacob Fatu in a Tribal Combat Match to retain the World Heavyweight Championship. On the following episode of Monday Night RAW, Fatu acknowledged Reigns as Tribal Chief, keeping The Bloodline at the center of WWE programming.

Rollins, meanwhile, defeated Bron Breakker in the main event of the June 1 episode of RAW in Turin after Breakker hit Paul Heyman with a spear. With that, “The Visionary” continues to be protected as one of the strongest names on the red brand.

It remains to be seen whether WWE will start building the match in the coming weeks, or whether there will be another creative bridge before SummerSlam.
