Roman Reigns said Sami Zayn would not be as relevant in WWE if he hadn’t been part of The Bloodline. He credited the group for the success Zayn has had in the company since.
On Monday’s Raw from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, Reigns confronted Zayn and said Zayn benefitted from The Bloodline more than anyone. He even told Zayn he should be grateful for the money he has made and for still having a job in WWE.
Reigns brought up the match against Johnny Knoxville at WrestleMania 38 to mock Zayn. He called Zayn a sidekick to the Jackass star.
Zayn responded. He said fans still remember the Knoxville match almost five years later and it will be considered one of the most memorable matches in WrestleMania history. He then said nobody remembers Reigns’ match against Brock Lesnar from the same show.
That 2022 match between the two champions was a big part of the segment. Reigns noted that he won the title unification match against Lesnar and said Zayn would not be carrying the Undisputed WWE Championship if it weren’t for him.
Zayn insisted he worked to earn his place in WWE and demanded that Reigns respect him. He told Reigns he wanted his full attention before their match.
Reigns then ended the argument with a threat. He said this would be Zayn’s last week on the “Island of Relevancy” and promised to beat him on Saturday. Before leaving the ring, he asked Brooklyn to acknowledge him, and the crowd did.
Reigns was responding to Zayn’s jabs from last week. Zayn said The Bloodline was never as good as it was when he was part of it.
In a recent interview on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Zayn was asked what his career would have looked like without The Bloodline story, and he seemed to agree with Reigns. Zayn said:
“No idea. I can’t even fathom it.”
Reigns and Zayn will face off at Crown Jewel on Saturday in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
