Add as a preferred source on Google Ryan Garcia has broken his silence on the negative reaction to his appearance on the July 27 episode of Raw from the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California.
The reigning WBC Welterweight Champion appeared during Joe Hendry and Danhausen’s concert. Initially blending in with the Mini-Hausens, Garcia grabbed a guitar and smashed it over Hendry’s back, which allowed Dominik Mysterio and JD McDonagh to attack the two babyfaces.
In a recent interview with ESNEWS, Garcia discussed the segment and made it clear that he wanted a role similar to Floyd Mayweather’s involvement with Big Show in 2008.
“I wish they would have given me a better segment, because then I wouldn’t have got as much hate. You know?”
The backlash, however, was not solely related to the content of the segment. In 2024, Garcia was expelled from the World Boxing Council after making discriminatory comments about Black and Muslim people. The boxer later apologized.
Fightful Select also reported that several WWE wrestlers wanted nothing to do with Garcia backstage.
WrestleVotes Radio also reported that members of the creative team felt significant pressure following Raw because several Netflix executives were in attendance, with the Hendry and Danhausen segment internally viewed as a miss.
