Stephen Farrelly, who spent nearly two decades in WWE as Sheamus, is officially a free agent. His contract expired on October 1 after he turned down a restructured deal to stay with the company.
In a recent social media post, Farrelly shared a message about what he has in mind for this new phase of his career.
“All challengers welcome.”
The post came just as rumors of a possible move to AEW began to grow. According to WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select, the promotion has strong interest in signing Farrelly, and some members of its roster are in favor of bringing him in.
So far, however, no negotiations between Farrelly and AEW have been confirmed. An AEW source told Fightful that the two sides had not yet opened talks on a deal.
Wrestling Noticias previously covered Farrelly’s lengthy recovery from a shoulder injury and the surgery he underwent late last year. He has not wrestled since the November 17, 2025, episode of Raw, when he teamed with John Cena and Rey Mysterio to defeat Dominik Mysterio, Finn Bálor and JD McDonagh.
