Tay Melo’s wrestling future was back in question on Friday, September 4, after a change to her social media sparked speculation that she had retired.
The rumors started when a fan noticed that Melo had removed the word “wrestler” from her Instagram bio and took the edit as a sign that her in-ring career was over.
Melo replied directly to the comment on her X account and made it clear she has not walked away from the ring.
“Nope, I haven’t retired yet.”

Tony Khan revealed in July that she made the request after her match on the June 6 episode of Collision, saying at the time that she wanted to step away from the company and from wrestling. Khan said he would grant the request, but neither side has publicly confirmed her departure.
Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter later said he believes Melo intends to wrestle elsewhere. An AEW roster update published by Fightful on August 30 still listed the Brazilian among the company’s female talent.
Melo’s most recent match was that June 6 Collision bout, where she and Anna Jay lost to Divine Dominion (Megan Bayne and Lena Kross) in a match for the AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championship. Following Friday’s statement, her in-ring future remains open.
