Will Ospreay Breaks Down in Tears After Winning AEW World Championship

Will Ospreay had the crowning moment of his career on Sunday at AEW All In: London, defeating Kenny Omega in the main event to win the AEW World Championship for the first time.

The match went just over 34 minutes at Wembley Stadium. Down the stretch, Ospreay survived the One Winged Angel and finished Omega with a Hidden Blade for the pinfall.

After the match, an emotional Ospreay broke down in the ring and paid respect to Omega before celebrating. According to AEW, he became the first British man to win a World Championship in the United Kingdom and the first wrestler born outside North America to hold the AEW World Championship.

Later, during the post-All In media scrum, Ospreay got emotional again when asked what his 16-year-old self would think about seeing him reach this moment.

“I think he would be very happy.”

The victory caps a long pursuit of AEW’s top title for Ospreay. His first shot came at Forbidden Door 2024, where he fell to Swerve Strickland. This time, Ospreay punched his ticket to All In by winning the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament.

Ospreay had already won a title at Wembley in 2024, defeating MJF for the AEW International Championship. Now, he leaves London sitting at the top of the company as the 11th AEW World Champion in history.
