Tiffany Stratton revealed that she moved away from her original WWE finisher because she was afraid of suffering a serious injury while performing the move.
During a recent appearance on A Shot of Brandi, hosted by Brandi Rhodes, the reigning Women’s United States Champion explained that her original plan was not to use the Prettiest Moonsault Ever as her finisher.
“So I actually, originally, when I first got on TV it was a Vader bomb, but it had like a full twist and I called it the Tiffy twist. So it wasn’t originally like my plan to have that as my finish.”
“And then like I started landing the Tiffy twist kind of like awkwardly on my side or I wasn’t completing the twist every time and it just like scared me ’cause like you’re coming into the ground so fast and you’re twisting at the same time.”
“So I’m like, I don’t wanna break my nose on accident. So I decided to do the moonsault and the reason why I do the jumping one is because I was a trampoline gymnast and like—”
“You know, like jumping off of the ropes like kind of directly reflects my background I feel like. And like it just adds like a little bit of pizazz, if you will, with the jumping and I feel like not a lot of people can do that.”
Even so, the move has also led to some scary moments. Stratton pointed to a match against Fallon Henley, where her boot slipped off the rope while she was trying to land on her feet after missing the moonsault.
Stratton remains a featured name on SmackDown as the Women’s United States Champion. Last Friday, she defended the title against Lash Legend in an Open Challenge.
