Tiffany Stratton is still the WWE Women’s United States Champion after another successful defense on Friday Night SmackDown, which took place this Friday at Rupp Arena in Lexington, Kentucky.
The champion put the title on the line in an Open Challenge that was announced just hours before the show.
Lash Legend answered the challenge, arriving with Nia Jax by her side. Jax’s presence ended up being decisive, though not exactly in the way the duo expected.
In the closing moments of the match, Nia tried to interfere on Lash’s behalf, but she was cut off by Chelsea Green, who has continued trying to get back in Tiffany’s orbit despite being rejected by the champion in recent weeks.
The distraction allowed Stratton to take advantage, rolling up Legend to win the match. After the bell, Chelsea even tried to celebrate as if the victory was hers too.
That comes after last week’s SmackDown, when Tiffany made it clear that she and Green “never should have been a tag team,” keeping the possibility of an alliance at a distance, at least for now.
This was Stratton’s second title defense since defeating Giulia in April. Before facing Legend, she had already defeated Kiana James earlier this month.
