Add as a preferred source on Google Tony Khan left the door open to a possible AEW Hall of Fame during an interview published Wednesday on the Battleground Podcast. The question came up after Khan addressed the possibility of reviving the ROH Hall of Fame.
“The ROH class, which is a great group, they picked the group that is five wrestlers, four inductions across five wrestlers with, of course, Bryan Danielson, CM Punk, Samoa Joe and The Briscoes, Mark and Jay Briscoe. I think that’s five great wrestlers, four great acts to put in a Hall of Fame.
“And I’ve never launched any AEW Hall of Fame as of yet and have not worked on the ROH Hall of Fame yet. So those are great thoughts and something to think about.”
Khan did not announce a ceremony, a class or a timeline. Before addressing AEW, though, he said he’s interested in adding new names to the ROH Hall of Fame and would consider turning the induction into a live ceremony on HonorClub.
Asked about Athena, Khan said the current ROH Women’s World Champion has an “excellent case” to be included in a future class.
There’s a simple explanation for why Khan has never worked on the project: ROH launched its Hall of Fame in January 2022, while it was still under Sinclair Broadcast Group’s ownership. The deal for Khan’s purchase of the company wasn’t announced until that March.
The inaugural class included Bryan Danielson, CM Punk, Samoa Joe and The Briscoes. Beyond the five wrestlers, Cary Silkin also received the first Legacy Award for his contributions outside the ring.
But Khan has previously gone further when talking about a possible AEW Hall of Fame. In March 2024, he named Sting, Brodie Lee and Jay Briscoe as wrestlers who should be honored.
“Sting and Mr. Brodie Lee would be great people to build any Hall of Fame class around.”
No AEW Hall of Fame is currently in development. Khan’s comments suggest he could reactivate the ROH Hall of Fame first — which already has an inaugural class — before launching something similar for his main company.
