Add as a preferred source on Google Swerve Strickland may be very close to a return to AEW programming, less than a month after his last appearance for the company.
During a media call to promote AEW Redemption, AEW President Tony Khan was asked about the status of the former AEW World Champion.
Khan said Strickland is in good standing with AEW and noted that the two of them will represent the company at San Diego Comic-Con this weekend. He did add, though, that he’d be happy to share more information on the wrestler once Redemption is over.
Holding off on an update until after the pay-per-view raises the possibility that Strickland could show up at Sunday’s event, July 26, though that has not been officially confirmed.

Before that, Strickland will be at Comic-Con on Friday, July 24. Along with appearing on an AEW panel alongside Khan, he’ll hold an autograph signing with Orange Cassidy at the DC booth.
Strickland’s last match came at Forbidden Door on June 28, where he was defeated by Will Ospreay in the men’s final of the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament. The result earned Ospreay a shot at the AEW World Championship at All In: London.
In recent weeks, Strickland had even framed his absence as part of a storyline conflict with AEW management. Khan’s comments make clear there’s no real issue between the two sides.
