Adam Copeland and Christian Cage are in one of the biggest moments of their AEW run, just days after winning the AEW World Tag Team Championship for the first time.
At Double or Nothing, held this past Sunday at Louis Armstrong Stadium in Queens, New York, the duo defeated FTR’s Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood in a New York Street Fight “I Quit” match, ending the former champions’ reign and saving their own partnership, since a loss would have meant the end of the team.
Speaking with the Toronto Sun, Tony Khan discussed the current momentum behind the Canadian stars and called the title win something special for the division.
“Copeland and Christian are red hot right now. It’s the first time they’ve held world tag team championships in many years and it’s the first time they’ve been the World Tag Team champions in AEW. To have one of the most legendary teams in the history of pro wrestling come together, that’s special.”

AEW is already working with the champions in mind for Redemption, the company’s new pay-per-view scheduled for July 26 at the Bell Centre in Montreal. General ticket sales will begin on June 1 at 10 a.m. ET, while presales will run from May 28 through May 31.

The context also adds weight to the title win. Copeland and Cage got back into the title picture after FTR attacked Beth Copeland at All Out 2025, along with another loss to Harwood and Wheeler at Dynasty. Now that they have the belts, the rivalry appears likely to keep playing out on AEW’s weekly programming.
