Add as a preferred source on Google Tony Khan remains interested in making another AEW video game, though he does not want the company to rush into a follow-up to Fight Forever.
Speaking during the AEW Redemption post-show media scrum on Sunday, Khan was asked whether fans could expect an AEW Fight Forever 2. He said AEW learned from its first console game and would be open to trying again.
“I have to say that I would be interested in taking another run at gaming and trying new things. We learned a lot from the experience of launching Fight Forever. For a company as young as AEW to have a game on the market, it was a very ambitious project.”
“We’ve developed other games on different platforms, and I do think there are a lot of different ways and different types of games we could make. Absolutely, at some point I’d be interested in it.”
“I would never want to rush into it. We worked really hard and also learned a lot from our first foray into gaming, and I do think it’d be something interesting to try again.”
Fight Forever was released on June 29, 2023, for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and PC. The game was developed by Yuke’s and published by THQ Nordic, with Kenny Omega playing a major role in the project’s creative direction.
The game received four seasons of downloadable content after its launch. Additions included Stadium Stampede, tournament modes and wrestlers such as Adam Copeland, Samoa Joe, Jay White, Swerve Strickland, Jamie Hayter and Claudio Castagnoli.
Fight Forever was not AEW’s first entry into gaming. AEW Games was launched in November 2020 with plans for one console game and two mobile titles. AEW Casino: Double or Nothing was released in March 2021, followed by the Elite General Manager mobile game that July.
