Tony Khan Responds to Fan Calling ROH a ‘Disaster’

Tony Khan pushed back hard on criticism of Ring of Honor’s current product. He has run the promotion since 2022.

The exchange began when a fan posted a screenshot on X showing a 5.57 Cagematch rating for episode 177 of ROH on HonorClub. The episode was taped July 20 at WJCT Studios in Jacksonville, Florida, and aired at the end of the month.

The fan called ROH’s current state a “disaster” and urged the company to get back to its roots by running its own shows again.

Khan was quick to respond and took issue with the fan using an episode from July to sum up ROH’s current product.

“‘These days’?” Khan replied. “It’s October. This tv was in July.”

The AEW president also cited Death Before Dishonor as an example of ROH’s recent progress. The pay-per-view took place August 21 at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, with Bandido vs. Nick Wayne and Athena vs. Hazuki at the top of the card. The show currently holds an 8.18 average on Cagematch, based on 91 ratings.

Khan added that ROH aired a new special for free on YouTube Monday night. The special featured six matches and closed with Bandido defeating AR Fox to retain the ROH World Championship.

In closing, Khan made it clear that he sees it as unfair for the fan to judge ROH by an episode from nearly three months ago.

As Khan put it, “You handpicked a tv from months ago and called it ‘these days.'”
