Kenny Omega made a last-minute trip from Japan to the United States to take part in the special episode of AEW Dynamite honoring PAC, held Wednesday in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Omega was not even booked for the show when the original plans were drawn up, Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. One source said Omega decided on short notice to travel from Japan so he could be part of the tribute to Benjamin Satterley, better known as PAC.
The trip carries even more weight given that Tony Khan made it clear before Dynamite that wrestlers were not required to work the show. According to Khan, everyone who took part did so voluntarily and out of affection for PAC.
Omega teamed with Hangman Adam Page and the Young Bucks, reuniting the Elite for an eight-man tag team match against Kyle Fletcher, Kevin Knight, Rocky Romero and Trent Beretta of the Don Callis Family. The Elite won after Omega hit Beretta with the One-Winged Angel.
The show also marked Omega’s first appearance on AEW television since he lost the AEW World Championship to Will Ospreay at All In on August 30.
Omega and PAC shared a long history in AEW. The two faced each other at the first All Out in 2019 and wrestled a 30-minute Iron Man match on Dynamite. They were also on opposite sides of the best-of-seven series between the Elite and Death Triangle for the AEW World Trios Championship.
