Vikingo posted a photo from a hospital bed, smiling and giving a thumbs-up as he reassured fans after the procedure. Before that, he had already posted photos showing himself on crutches and wearing a brace on his left knee, confirming that he would be undergoing surgery.
The injury happened last week as Vikingo was preparing for a match against EK Prosper on WWE NXT. The bout was set to be for the AAA Latin American Championship, but it never took place due to the situation.
On television, WWE explained Vikingo’s absence with a backstage attack by Keanu Carver.
Vikingo still appeared on the July 3 episode of SmackDown against Rey Fenix, but the match had been taped on June 29, one day before the injury.
As of now, there is no official timetable for the Mexican wrestler’s return to the ring. The focus now shifts to the future of the AAA Latin American Championship.
