The Butcher and The Blade are no longer part of AEW, bringing an end to a run that began during the company’s early months.

According to Fightful Select, the duo’s contracts recently expired, and AEW did not offer new extensions. As a result, both are now free to negotiate with any other promotion.

The team debuted on the November 27, 2019 episode of AEW Dynamite, appearing alongside Allie, who was introduced at the time as The Bunny, to attack Cody Rhodes after his match against Matt Knicks.

Their final match on AEW programming came on the January 5, 2024 episode of Rampage, when The Butcher, The Blade, and Kip Sabian lost to Mark Briscoe and The Hardys. The Butcher’s final singles match came in February 2025, when he lost to Gabe Kidd on Collision.

Despite being away from AEW television, the two recently reunited on the independent scene. On March 27 at Limitless Wrestling’s Bissell Brothers Bash, they defeated The Verdict, the team of Vinny Scalice and Bryce Donovan, who were accompanied by Smart Mark Sterling.

One natural landing spot could be TNA, especially with Allie recently returning to the company.
