WWE Crown Jewel, scheduled for Nov. 7 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, once again became a cause for concern on Monday following a new security alert from the U.S. State Department.
In a post on X, the State Department warned Americans in the Middle East due to recent attacks by the Houthis against airports and other facilities in Saudi Arabia.
Saudi Arabia remains at Level 3 of the official U.S. travel advisory, which recommends reconsidering travel to the country. The government also requires special authorization for its employees to use any airport in Saudi Arabia.
The document includes hotels, transportation hubs, and entertainment venues on the list of possible targets of terrorist attacks.
The State Department reported the following.
“Americans currently in the Middle East should exercise heightened vigilance due to the complex security environment. Be aware of potential flight cancellations, airspace closures, and travel disruptions. Iranian-supported Houthis have engaged in hostilities against Saudi Arabia, including attacks on civilian airports and other critical infrastructure resulting in civilian casualties and severe travel disruptions.”
The statement also warned about possible attacks against American interests.
“The hostilities have the potential to escalate rapidly beyond that immediate area. Americans traveling to or from the Middle East should monitor information about airport and airline operations and develop contingency plans in advance. Iran and groups supportive of Iran may target other U.S. interests overseas or at locations associated with the United States and Americans throughout the world, including U.S. businesses and other institutions.”
In addition, the British government also recommends avoiding nonessential travel to Saudi Arabia, while maintaining even more restrictive guidance for the region near the border with Yemen.
As previously reported, WWE also has an arena ready in the United States as an alternative for Crown Jewel.
Despite this, WWE continues to advertise Crown Jewel for Riyadh Season Stadium.
