AJ Styles was not fully on board with one choice WWE made during the match between Brock Lesnar and Oba Femi at Clash in Italy, held on May 31 at Inalpi Arena in Turin.
Lesnar and Femi faced off in a direct rematch from WrestleMania 42, where The Ruler had defeated The Beast Incarnate and sparked rumors about a possible retirement for the former world champion.
In Italy, however, the result was different. Lesnar defeated Femi after hitting seven F-5s, including one through the commentary table, tying their series at 1-1.
On the latest edition of The Phenomenally Retro Podcast, Styles said he was bothered specifically by the table spot in that match, as he believes it should have been saved for Roman Reigns and Jacob Fatu, who faced each other in the main event in a Tribal Combat Match.

“Can I say what bothered me about some parts of the show? Brock and Oba broke a table. I think that should have been for Jacob and Roman. Why did we do that when Jacob and Roman were having that match? Brock and Oba didn’t need that. It wasn’t that kind of match. So I was really confused by that.”
Despite the criticism, the match reinforced Femi’s toughness, as he survived four straight F-5s early on and still managed to lift Lesnar while trapped in a Kimura Lock.
With Lesnar’s win, the expectation is that WWE will move toward a third match between the two, possibly at SummerSlam in Minneapolis.
