Reggie, formerly known as Reginald in WWE, revealed one of the strangest plans Vince McMahon considered for WrestleMania 37. According to Reggie, the idea was to put him in the match between Sasha Banks and Bianca Belair in the main event of the first night of the show.
Speaking with Rewind Recap Relive, Reggie said McMahon was a big fan of his character and even thought about turning the match into an intergender Triple Threat match.
“Vince wanted a Triple Threat between Sasha, Bianca and me.”

The main event of that WrestleMania would have been Sasha vs. Bianca vs. Reggie.

At the time, Reggie was involved in the rivalry between Banks, Belair and Carmella on SmackDown. The plan called for him to move away from Carmella, get closer to Sasha and, in the end, announce that he would also be part of the match for the SmackDown Women’s Championship.
According to Reggie, Banks and Belair did not react well. Sasha reportedly questioned Vince about what the “chemistry” between them was supposed to be, but WWE’s former creative boss could not explain it beyond repeating that it existed.
In the end, the idea was dropped. Banks and Belair went into the main event on their own and made history as the first Black women to headline a WrestleMania. Belair won the match and captured the SmackDown Women’s Championship.
Curiously, even if the plan had moved forward, Reggie likely would have missed the event anyway. He revealed that he tested positive for COVID-19 on the day of WrestleMania 37, when he was supposed to accompany Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler.
