WWE has once again come under heavy criticism on social media after using streamer videos on Monday Night RAW, while at the same time taking down content from creators.
As reported by Wrestling Noticias a few days ago, the company launched one of its biggest crackdowns against react channels, streamers, and pages that post short clips from their shows. The action is reportedly being carried out with support from StreamEnforcement, a company that specializes in removing copyrighted content.
The issue came back into the spotlight on this Monday’s RAW, when WWE aired reactions from fans and streamers to last Saturday’s Backlash PLE. Many fans pointed out the contradiction, since some creators say they’ve had videos removed, received strikes, and even come close to losing their accounts.
One of the most widely shared accounts came from creator Wrespresso, who said that around 90% of his clips were taken down shortly after SmackDown. According to him, even videos containing only audio from the broadcast were hit.
StreamEnforcement, on its official website, claims to offer services such as ongoing removal of illegal content, automated filtering on video platforms, and live broadcast protection.
As of now, WWE has not publicly addressed the new policy.
