Add as a preferred source on Google Dominik Mysterio will continue as AAA Mega Champion. On this Monday’s Monday Night RAW, held in Knoxville, Tennessee, the Judgment Day member defeated El Grande Americano Original and retained the title in a historic defense.
This marked the first time the AAA Mega Championship was defended on a WWE main roster show.
Before the match, Finn Bálor attacked JD McDonagh backstage, leaving Mysterio without the support of his stablemate. Even so, Dominik stepped into the ring to put the title on the line.
The match featured several interferences. Rayo Americano, Bravo Americano, and the current El Grande Americano all showed up during the closing moments of the bout, adding to the chaos around the ring.
In the end, El Grande Americano Original took a 619. Dominik followed up with a frog splash and picked up the win, retaining the championship.
It’s worth noting that the rivalry between the two El Grande Americanos will have a decisive chapter at AAA Noche de Los Grandes, set for May 30 at Arena Monterrey, where the two will face off in a Mask vs. Mask Match.
