WWE and Disney announced on Tuesday morning a special edition of Worlds Collide built around Avengers: Doomsday, the new Marvel Studios movie. With the show, WWE continues to expand its relationship with Disney.
The show will feature wrestlers from WWE, NXT, and AAA on December 15 at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex near Orlando, Florida. It will serve as the build to the movie, which is scheduled to hit theaters on December 18, three days later.
The night before, the same venue will host the first John Cena Classic, which will air live on Netflix as a special episode of Raw. The tournament will pit main roster stars against NXT talent, and the champion will be determined by a fan vote.
The news that Disney will host the John Cena Classic was announced by Cena himself on Monday’s Raw in Brooklyn, New York.
Paul “Triple H” Levesque, WWE’s Chief Content Officer, celebrated the announcement on X and wrote:
“The first-ever @JohnCena Classic as part of our expanding partnership between @WWE, @ESPN, and @Disney. Excited to bring this industry to new heights for the best fans in the world.”
WWE is producing Avengers: Doomsday merchandise, including title belts. The items will be available at WWE World, the fan fest WWE is running with Fanatics on both days, as well as on WWEShop.com and at select Disney stores.
Combo tickets for both shows will go on sale on Ticketmaster on Friday, November 13, at 10 a.m. ET, with the general pre-sale beginning on Thursday, November 12, at the same time.
WWE has yet to reveal where Worlds Collide will be airing.
