Brock Lesnar recently called it a career in pro wrestling, but the long-running criticism that his time in WWE was always about the money has resurfaced.
The Undertaker, who has known Lesnar since his first WWE run and shared some of the biggest rivalries of Lesnar’s career, flatly rejected that perception on the latest episode of Six Feet Under, where he was joined by Paul Heyman.
“I don’t think Brock [Lesnar] really gets enough credit for his passion for the business. I think most people, everybody, have their opinion, and they don’t know st about what they’re talking about. It was always, ‘It’s always about the money,’ or they bched about the dates or everything like that. I think he genuinely, he had to love this business.”
The Undertaker also revealed that Lesnar called him before his final match. He didn’t share what was said but noted that the gesture meant a great deal to him and reinforced his belief that Lesnar understood the traditions of the business. Heyman added that the call was something that needed to happen.
As previously reported here on Wrestling Noticias, there had already been an expectation that Lesnar would officially retire at SummerSlam in Minneapolis.
The farewell took place on August 1, when Oba Femi defeated Lesnar in a Hell in a Cell match. After the bout, Lesnar embraced Femi and declared that the young star represented the future of WWE.
The Undertaker’s defense carries additional weight given the history between the two. Lesnar was the man who ended Undertaker’s WrestleMania streak at WrestleMania 30 in 2014, and the two reignited their rivalry at SummerSlam and Hell in a Cell in 2015.
