Kendal Grey captured her first major WWE title.
At this Sunday’s Great American Bash, held at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, she defeated Lola Vice to win the NXT Women’s Championship.
The match served as the main event of the night and featured two wrestlers with strong technical backgrounds. Grey entered the bout as one of WWE’s top rising names, following her quick rise as Evolve Women’s Champion.
Lola Vice came into the show after a run of solid title defenses. One day earlier, the then-champion had defended the NXT Women’s Championship in AAA against La Hiedra in Mérida, becoming the first wrestler to put the NXT women’s title on the line in the Mexican promotion.
At Great American Bash, however, Grey was able to withstand Vice’s physical style. The closing stretch featured submission attempts from both sides, including a guillotine choke from Lola.
In the final moments, Grey hit Shades of Grey and scored the pinfall, ending Vice’s reign and capturing the top women’s title in NXT.
