Chelsea Green finds herself in a precarious spot just days after capturing the Interim WWE Women’s Championship at SummerSlam.
On the August 7 edition of Friday Night SmackDown, Green teamed with Tiffany Stratton against Fatal Influence’s Fallon Henley and Lainey Reid. The match ended with the champion taking the pinfall after the Rolling Encore.
According to Bryan Alvarez on Wrestling Observer Radio, the serious injury occurred during the execution of that very move. Reid landed on Green’s head, fracturing her orbital bone.
Alvarez also noted that he’s heard criticism of the Rolling Encore from people within the business, with some saying the move was already considered a poor finisher. There is now a possibility that Fatal Influence could drop it altogether following the incident.

The status of the Interim WWE Women’s Championship also remains up in the air. Alvarez floated the possibility of Green competing down the line with facial protection but did not rule out that she may need to vacate the title if her absence stretches longer. WWE has not announced any decision.
Green captured the title on August 2 at SummerSlam, winning a Ladder Match over Charlotte Flair, Jade Cargill, Lash Legend, and Tiffany Stratton. The interim championship was created after WWE Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley suffered a meniscus injury.
As a result, WWE could find itself in a highly unusual situation with its interim champion also unable to compete.
