Finn Bálor had high praise for Chelsea Green after she captured the Interim WWE Women’s Championship at SummerSlam in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The win marked Green’s first world title in WWE.
Green won the belt in a Ladder Match against Tiffany Stratton, Charlotte Flair, Jade Cargill, and Lash Legend. Despite ending up hanging upside down on the ladder in the closing moments, she managed to climb back up and unhook the title.
In a recent interview with Nina Drama, Bálor spoke about Green’s title win, highlighting the long road the new champion traveled before earning an opportunity this big.
“Yeah, I’m very happy for Chelsea. I feel like she’s someone who’s been working very, very hard with very little kind of flowers thrown her way for a long time, and she finally got her flowers, so I’m very, very happy for her.”
The interim championship was created after WWE Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley suffered a meniscus injury. WWE opted not to rush her recovery timetable for SummerSlam.
Bálor was also in action on the same card, competing in a Fatal 4-Way against Sami Zayn, Gunther, and the returning Kevin Owens with a future Undisputed WWE Championship opportunity on the line. Owens picked up the win.
Green, however, suffered a fractured orbital bone on the first SmackDown after her title victory last Friday, once again leaving her future up in the air.
