WWE Makes Major Last-Minute Change to Tonight’s NXT

Mason Rook has not been medically cleared to compete and is officially out of his NXT Championship match against Grayson Waller, a major last-minute change to Tuesday’s WWE NXT.

WWE has confirmed that Waller will still defend the title tonight despite Rook’s absence. A surprise opponent will step in for Rook, but Waller’s new challenger has not yet been revealed.

Waller vs. Rook had been billed as one of the top matches on the show. Rook became the No. 1 contender on September 15, defeating Tony D’Angelo and Saquon Shugars in a Triple Threat Match to earn the title shot.

Last week, Waller and Rook came face to face in the ring, and their heated verbal exchange served as the final build toward the title match.

Waller won the NXT Championship at Heatwave on August 30, defeating D’Angelo, Zilla Fatu and Cruz Montana in a Fatal 4-Way Match.

Tonight’s NXT will air live from the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida, starting at 8 p.m. ET on The CW in the United States.
