Eric Bischoff is casting doubt on the story that WWE considered rebooting the nWo during the COVID-19 pandemic.
In recent days, former WWE writer Chris Dunn claimed on the Public Enemies Podcast that the company discussed a new version of the group in 2020, during the period when shows were being taped at the Performance Center in Orlando. The idea would have involved Sheamus, Cesaro, Shinsuke Nakamura, and Lars Sullivan, with a legendary nWo member being used to introduce the stable.
According to Dunn, the plan came close to happening, but was canceled after the veteran failed a COVID-19 test. He also claimed the debut would have happened first, with the creative details being figured out afterward.
However, on a recent edition of 83 Weeks, Bischoff said he had never heard anything about it.
“I had a couple of people, one in particular, Sean Waltman, reach out to me and ask if I had ever heard anything about this. I never heard anything. Apparently, Kevin Nash hadn’t either. The three surviving members of the nWo knew nothing about it, so obviously, we weren’t involved. That makes me think maybe something got lost in translation along the way. It seems very unlikely for a lot of reasons. It could just be silly internet stupid sh*t.”
