Nikki Bella tried to be part of Clash in Italy without having to wrestle, but the idea ultimately did not move forward in WWE.

During a recent edition of The Nikki & Brie Show, the WWE Hall of Famer revealed that she pitched the company on a concept called “Ciao Bella” for the premium live event held on May 31 at the Inalpi Arena in Turin. The idea would have featured Nikki in comedic, cinematic segments around Italy, interacting with several WWE stars.

The concept would have had a similar feel to Emily in Paris, but adapted for WWE. Among the planned moments, Nikki would have appeared on an Italian scooter with Danhausen, had Aperol Spritz with Brie Bella and Paige, tried to take a selfie with Oba Femi while the two were having gelato, and, in one of the more unusual ideas, shared a gondola ride with Gunther.

According to Nikki, WWE’s team showed interest in the project, especially the final segment, where Italians would say “Ciao Bella” as she believed she was being recognized for being Nikki Bella. However, despite the positive initial reaction, the idea was eventually dropped.

Nikki remains out of the ring after suffering an ankle injury before WrestleMania 42. As a result, Paige replaced her alongside Brie Bella, and the duo won the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship at the Showcase of the Immortals.

At Clash in Italy, Gunther ended up being involved in another major talking point, losing to Cody Rhodes in a controversial Undisputed WWE Championship defense.
