Eric Bischoff does not believe WWE came close to launching a new version of the nWo in 2020.
The rumor surfaced after former WWE writer Chris Dunn claimed on the Public Enemies Podcast that the company discussed rebooting the legendary faction in 2020, during the ThunderDome era.
According to Dunn, the group would have featured Sheamus, Cesaro, Shinsuke Nakamura, and Lars Sullivan, with a former nWo member involved in Orlando.
However, on a recent edition of 83 Weeks, Bischoff revealed that he had never heard anything about the possible idea. More than that, Sean Waltman reached out to him to ask if he knew anything.
“It’s funny. I had a couple people that, well, one in particular, Sean Walman reached out to me and said, ‘Hey, did you ever hear anything about this?’ I said I never heard anything about that, and neither did Kevin Nash, apparently, according to Sean Walman. So the three surviving members of the nWo knew nothing about it, so obviously we weren’t involved in it, which makes me think maybe there’s something lost in translation along the way here. I don’t know, but it seems very unlikely for a lot of reasons. Yeah, it could be just silly internet stupid shit.”
The nWo was announced as part of the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2020, with Hulk Hogan, Scott Hall, Kevin Nash, and Sean Waltman representing the group.
