WWE NXT Great American Bash delivered a modest performance in its first airing as an NXT special on The CW Network.
According to Wrestlenomics, this past Sunday’s show on June 28 averaged 394,000 viewers and drew a 0.07 rating in the 18-49 demo. That number was a significant drop from the previous Tuesday’s regular episode of NXT, which drew 668,000 viewers and a 0.11 demo rating.
The comparison, however, is not entirely direct. Great American Bash aired on a Sunday, outside NXT’s usual time slot, and also faced direct competition from AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door, whose Buy-In began at the same time, with the main pay-per-view starting one hour later.
As WWE attempts to counter program AEW All In with a couple of early afternoon shows from NXT and AAA, let's take a look at the viewership of the latest attempt.

Still, the result stands out because the show aired for free on broadcast television in the United States. Between April and June, NXT had been averaging 575,000 viewers and a 0.08 demo rating in its regular Tuesday time slot, also on The CW.
The special took place at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida, and featured several major developments for the brand. In the main event, Kendal Grey defeated Lola Vice to win the NXT Women’s Championship. Tony D’Angelo retained the NXT Championship against Naraku, while Zaria retained the NXT Women’s North American Championship against Tatum Paxley.
NXT’s next test in this format already has a date. Heatwave will be the brand’s next special on The CW in August, again airing outside the traditional Tuesday slot and facing heavy competition, this time against AEW All In.
