WWE paid tribute to Kyle Busch, the legendary NASCAR driver and former WWE 24/7 Champion, who died on Thursday, May 21, at the age of 41.
In a post on its official website, the company mourned Busch’s death and sent condolences to his family, friends and fans. WWE also described him as a big fan of the company.
Busch had a few memorable appearances on WWE programming. In 2009, he appeared as a guest host on Monday Night Raw alongside Joey Logano. The following year, he won a race in a WWE-themed car.
His most remembered WWE moment came in 2019, when Busch defeated R-Truth to win the WWE 24/7 Championship, with Michael Waltrip serving as the special referee. R-Truth won the title back later that same night.
In NASCAR, Busch was a two-time Cup Series champion, winning the title in 2015 and 2019. Over his career, he earned 63 wins in the top series, along with record-setting numbers across NASCAR’s other national series.
NASCAR stated that Busch had been hospitalized due to a severe illness before his death. He is survived by his wife, Samantha, and their children, Brexton and Lennix.
