Ethan Page is currently a member of the Monday Night RAW roster and has already held both the NXT Championship and the NXT North American Championship. Before he ever set foot in WWE, though, he received a very different message about his future with the company.

In a recent appearance on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Page revealed that the moment took place back in 2020, while he was in Nashville taping for what was then Impact Wrestling. He had already decided not to renew his contract there, and a potential move to AEW was still far from a done deal.

“Then I get this email being like, ‘Yeah, we’re not hiring you, just stop.'”

Page said he used to film much of his career for his YouTube channel, and he had a camera rolling when he read the email. He recorded his immediate reaction and wondered whether he would accept the rejection or use it as motivation to prove the evaluation wrong.

After parting ways with TNA at the end of 2020, Page made his AEW debut at Revolution in March 2021 as the surprise entrant in the Face of the Revolution Ladder Match. His run with the company came to an end in 2024, following a stretch that also included appearances for Ring of Honor.

Just a few weeks after leaving AEW, Page signed with WWE and made his NXT debut on May 28, 2024, attacking Trick Williams. He captured the NXT Championship in just his fourth match, and later added the NXT North American Championship to his résumé by defeating Ricky Saints.

Page was called up to the main roster in April of this year as a member of RAW. This past Monday, he competed in the Gauntlet Match to determine Penta’s Intercontinental Championship challenger for SummerSlam, but Chad Gable came away with the win.
