Mike Santana appears to be moving closer to joining WWE, with his TNA deal now officially over.
WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select reports that the former TNA World Champion is expected to join the company by the end of the summer, meaning by September. It remains unclear whether he will immediately join the main roster or begin his WWE run in NXT.
WWE’s interest in Santana has been reported since June. At the time, he was said to have strong internal support, including from at least one member of the main roster, with WWE hoping to have him on the main roster before the end of 2026.
Santana’s TNA contract was set to expire in mid-July. Last week, he posted an image featuring the date July 15 and later released a video looking back on his time with the company that ended with a message saying the marathon continues.
His final TNA match took place at Slammiversary on June 28, when he lost the TNA World Championship to Nic Nemeth. The result ended Santana’s second title reign, which began in January when he defeated Frankie Kazarian.
Santana is already familiar with WWE. On March 31, he teamed with OTM’s Bronco Nima and Lucien Price on NXT at Madison Square Garden, defeating DarkState in a six-man tag team match.
Before that, in October 2025, Santana won the TNA World Championship for the first time by defeating Trick Williams at Bound For Glory. At this point, his WWE arrival appears to be only a matter of time.
