Chad Gable picked up one of the biggest wins of his career on this week’s Raw. He won a seven-man Gauntlet Match to punch his ticket to a WWE Intercontinental Championship match against Penta at SummerSlam.

The match kicked off with Dominik Mysterio defeating Joe Hendry after interference from JD McDonagh. Dominik didn’t last much longer, though — Je’Von Evans eliminated him shortly after, capitalizing on a distraction from Danhausen.

Evans went on to eliminate Dragon Lee as well, but his lengthy run in the match came to an end at the hands of Rusev. After holding on for several minutes, “The Young OG” passed out while trapped in the Accolade, forcing the referee to call for the bell.

Gable entered next and eliminated Rusev with a roll-up. Ethan Page was the final entrant and came close to putting Gable away with the Confidence Breaker, but Gable kicked out. In the closing moments, Gable escaped a move off the ropes and locked in the Ankle Lock, forcing Page to tap out.

With the win, Gable will face Penta for the title at SummerSlam. Interestingly, the two were on the same side just weeks ago, when Gable apologized for his actions as the Original El Grande Americano and helped Penta, Rey Mysterio and Dragon Lee fight off Rusev and Page.

Penta won the Intercontinental Championship on March 2 by defeating Dominik Mysterio.

The match will also carry extra significance for Gable. Billed by WWE as being from Minneapolis, he’ll challenge for the title at U.S. Bank Stadium in that same city during SummerSlam on August 1 and 2.
