This week’s show opened with Tony Khan briefly paying tribute to Insane Clown Posse, which received a big ovation from the Detroit crowd.

The broadcast then officially began on HBO Max, with Excalibur, Taz and Tony Schiavone welcoming viewers. Footage aired from Redemption, where Will Ospreay turned against the Death Riders to protect Kenny Omega, only for the AEW World Champion to attack him afterward.

Backstage, Jon Moxley said he had tried every way he could to warn Ospreay that Omega was not his friend, but Ospreay did not listen and was attacked from behind on Sunday. Moxley said Omega was close to proving once and for all that he was the best wrestler in the world, making the situation especially difficult.

In the parking lot, Renee Paquette tried to interview Will Ospreay as he hurried toward the arena. The Death Riders were waiting for him. Daniel Garcia confronted Ospreay, who hit Garcia with a Hidden Blade before Jon Moxley held PAC back and asked Ospreay whether he was sure about what he was about to do. Ospreay said he did not need Moxley or the Death Riders’ approval and announced that he was out of the group. Moxley believed Ospreay had a plan.

Ospreay then crossed paths with “Hangman” Adam Page. Page said he understood Ospreay’s desire to handle everything alone, having been in the same position himself, and offered to help. Ospreay declined because no one in United Empire liked Page, adding that if Ospreay could no longer trust Omega, he could not trust Page either.

Page told Ospreay he needed to take Omega seriously as an opponent or Ospreay would lose at Wembley, then offered to help again. Ospreay thanked Page for the advice and walked away.

AEW National Championship – Three Way Match: Andrade El Idolo (c) vs. Nick Wayne vs. “Jungle” Jack Perry
– Andrade hit The DM on Wayne and scored the pinfall.

After the match, Tony Schiavone asked Andrade about his win. Andrade said he was calm after getting one over on MJF and Don Callis, and vowed that he would become the greatest AEW National Champion of all time. Asked about his recent challenges at All In and Grand Slam Mexico, Andrade gave his usual response: “How You Now?”

Backstage, the Brawling Birds said they want to face Divine Dominion because both teams are undefeated and they believe the reigning AEW Women’s World Tag Team Champions have been avoiding them. Alex Windsor and Jamie Hayter also challenged any member of Minions in Training to a match on the next episode of AEW Collision.

The entire Don Callis Family was gathered backstage as Kyle Fletcher bragged that he had not lost the AEW International Championship at Redemption while looking directly at Kevin Knight. Don Callis said the group had taken some losses but that no one was as angry as Mark Davis, then asked what the former AEW National Champion would do next.

Callis said Knight had learned a lesson after saying he did not need the Don Callis Family and then losing. Knight agreed, saying he would appreciate even the little things, and warned Fletcher about Mistico before adding that Fletcher could be in trouble with Mike Bailey at Grand Slam Mexico. Fletcher said the AEW International Championship would never leave the Don Callis Family. Kazuchika Okada then appeared and sarcastically agreed with him.

Trios Match: Don Callis Family (AEW International Champion Kyle Fletcher, Brian Cage, and Jake Something) vs. “Speedball” Mike Bailey, and Brodido (ROH World Champion Bandido & Brody King)
– Bailey caught Doyle in a pin, giving his team the win over the Don Callis Family.

Renee Paquette sat down with Adam Copeland, Christian Cage and the Young Bucks to promote their AEW World Tag Team Championship match at All In. The Bucks said they were excited and credited Cage and Copeland with revolutionizing tag team wrestling. Copeland and Cage returned the compliment and also mentioned FTR, but made it clear that they were not on a farewell tour and were still competing at a high level.

Matt Jackson said he understood their point but added that he and Nick were still in the opening phase of their careers, while the champions had already entered a second phase. The Bucks believed a win at All In would make them the winningest tag team in AEW history. Copeland saw their point because he and Cage had gone 25 years without winning a tag team title. Cage said the Bucks would have to beat him and Copeland in London if they wanted to be the best.

Both teams agreed they still had plenty to prove and needed a win at Wembley more than ever.

AEW TBS Championship Match: Maya World (c) vs. CMLL Women’s World Champion Persephone
– After Kris Statlander distracted Persephone, World hit her with a fallaway slam and scored the pin.

Backstage, a visibly angry Mark Davis challenged Will Ospreay to a match at AEW Grand Slam: Mexico. Davis wanted no members of the Don Callis Family at ringside because he wanted to destroy Ospreay on his own.

Renee Paquette introduced Willow Nightingale for an in-ring celebration of her AEW Women’s World Championship win at Redemption. An emotional Nightingale looked back on her AEW career, from her debut to beating Mercedes Moné for the TBS Championship and later being sidelined by an injury.

Nightingale said her mother had been tough with her, telling her she could get back up and fight or stay down and feel sorry for herself. She returned, won the Casino Gauntlet match and beat Thekla on Sunday. Nightingale said she had lived out a dream at Redemption. Mercedes Moné’s music then hit.

The crowd loudly booed Moné as she walked out with a contract. Moné said she was not there to ruin Nightingale’s celebration and demanded that Nightingale sign the contract right away. Nightingale placed the contract on Moné’s foot and signed it, but the CEO shoved the champion in the face. Nightingale asked whether Moné was upset because Moné was no longer the center of attention, or because Nightingale had been the one to end her TBS Championship reign. She reminded Moné that she now held one title that Moné could never win.

Moné said Nightingale’s stupid smile was what irritated her most. She said Nightingale needed to admit that she had only gotten this far in her career because of Moné. Moné promised to take Nightingale’s title and smile at All In. The two went face-to-face.

Divine Dominion then attacked Nightingale from behind. Lena Kross and Megan Bayne hit her with a double chokeslam before Moné grabbed the championship belt and posed with it. The Brawling Birds ran in to save the champion.

AEW Continental Championship Match: Jon Moxley (c) vs. Komander
– Moxley choked out Komander with a Rear Naked Choke for the win.

Backstage, Mick Foley interviewed the Bang Bang Gang. Ace Austin and Colten Gunn were upset after being screwed over by The Dogs and the Don Callis Family. An angry Juice Robinson challenged any combination of members from The Dogs and the Don Callis Family to a match on AEW Collision.

AEW World Trios Championship Match: The Conglomeration (Orange Cassidy, Kyle O’Reilly, and Roderick Strong) (c) vs. The Demand (Ricochet, Toa Liona, and Bishop Kaun)
– After interference from The Lethal Twist, who struck Cassidy with one of the belts, Ricochet pinned Cassidy to win the titles for The Demand.

The Lethal Twist and The Demand continued attacking Cassidy after the match, but Brody King ran in to make the save. King was quickly overwhelmed by the numbers advantage. Adam Page then came out with a barbed-wire-wrapped chair and attacked Lethal before finishing him off with a brutal Buckshot Lariat.

The Death Riders spoke backstage. The group said it was tired of the Bang Bang Gang making excuses, blaming the Death Riders for their failures and criticizing the way they operate. They said the Bang Bang Gang was in for an unpleasant encounter on Collision. Moxley said that with the Continental Cup approaching, he would take down everyone in his path and prove the value of both the Death Riders and the AEW Continental Championship.

Daniel Garcia vs. Will Ospreay was announced for tomorrow’s AEW Collision.

Tony Schiavone called AEW World Champion Kenny Omega to the ring, but Will Ospreay interrupted before Omega could say anything. Omega said he did not need to talk about what happened Sunday, but since Ospreay was there, Omega wanted to have some fun with it.

Omega said he clearly cared about Ospreay, but wanted to know what it felt like to hit Ospreay with a One-Winged Angel in the middle of the ring, so he did. Omega again pointed to the empathy he had shown Ospreay, but said both men had promised themselves they would do anything to win the AEW World Championship. He said watching Ospreay compete in the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament on his own was another sign of that empathy. Omega then said he had become champion and asked what excuse Ospreay would make now that Ospreay had started to fail.

Ospreay said his excuse was that he had come back before his neck had fully healed. He then brought up Jon Moxley, saying that upon returning, the same man who had tried to kill him was also the man who brought him back to life. Ospreay said he had no one he could trust, but seeing Moxley helped him understand why the Death Riders were so protective, even though he did not agree with their actions. When Ospreay saw Omega down and defenseless in the ring, he did not want to see Omega go through what he himself had gone through in the past.

Omega said there was another way to look at what happened. Defending his World Title had given Ospreay the All In match he had long dreamed about, but it left Omega exhausted. He was also alone and lacked the strength to fight back against the Death Riders, so he accepted his fate. He then remembered hearing deafening cheers from the fans. When Omega looked up, Ospreay was standing there with Omega’s title in his hands and a torn bag. Omega said Ospreay had considered attacking him and accused Ospreay of setting the entire thing up as a trap. Ospreay denied it.

Omega questioned whether Ospreay had ever really been his friend. He slapped Ospreay across the face several times while asking whether all the British wrestler ever wanted was a shot at the AEW World Championship. Ospreay said he would fight back for real if Omega touched him again, then slapped Omega. Omega stepped out of the ring.

Ospreay said every trip from the United Kingdom to the United States had been about chasing his dream. He said the moment had arrived and that it had taken him 10 years to climb the mountain to this point. Ospreay promised to make England proud by winning the title at All In on home soil.

Ospreay said he would not be a coward like Omega and Moxley by attacking from behind. Instead, he would let the champion be at his best so he could prove he was the better man by beating him clean.

Ospreay’s music played as he stared down Omega to close the show.

End of show.
