AEW has not started development on a new game in the Fight Forever series, although the idea remains alive behind the scenes.

According to Fightful Select, AEW: Fight Forever 2 is not in production at this time. However, the company still has the custom engine created for the first game and is expected to use it as the foundation for a future project.

The first AEW: Fight Forever was released on June 29, 2023, for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch. The game was developed by Yuke’s and published by THQ Nordic.

The initial goal was to deliver a more arcade-style experience inspired by classic wrestling games, with more than 10 gameplay modes, minigames, online matches, and several DLC expansions.

Even so, the game received a very mixed response from fans. Some praised its nostalgic gameplay, while others criticized the lack of deeper modes, limited customization, and thin long-term content.

In August 2025, Tony Khan said he did not know when a new AEW game would be made, but admitted the company learned a lot from the first project and that the next attempt would need to be better.

The expectation, then, is that AEW will make another game in the future, but without repeating the mistake of announcing the project too early.
