Sammy Guevara hasn’t been part of AEW Dynamite since January 7, when he came up short against Bandido. In the months since, the Spanish God has mostly stuck to Collision, ROH programming and CMLL events.

Guevara addressed his AEW Dynamite absence in a recent interview with MuscleManMalcolm, where he was asked when fans might see him back on the company’s flagship weekly show. He made it clear the call isn’t his to make.

“Yeah, no, honestly, man, you know, that’s obviously not my call, but, like, whatever they do decide to call, like, I think the last time I was on AEW was when I wrestled Darby for the world title. I was given, what, a couple hours notice, and I just tried to do the best that I could, you know? So anytime I go out there, I try to give you a show like you’ve never seen before, because that’s what I do. I’m Sammy Guevara, the Spanish God. You know, I think I’m the best, so, yeah.”

The match Guevara referenced took place on May 16 at AEW Collision, when he earned a shot at Darby Allin’s AEW World Championship. In a No Countout match, Allin escaped a 630 Splash and connected with the Coffin Drop for the win.

Guevara did make it back to AEW programming on June 6, teaming with RUSH and Dralistico to challenge The Conglomeration for the AEW World Trios Championship. LFI came up short in that bout as well.

By the end of that same month, Guevara and The Beast Mortos also lost the ROH World Tag Team Championship to Mistico and Mascara Dorada in a match held at Arena Mexico.
